Snow Days/Remote Days

Dear TSD Families,
Due to the pending snow storm, TSD buildings will be closed for all “in person” activities both Wednesday and Thursday.  In order to provide continuity to this first full week of remote learning, we are going to provide asynchronous (non-live) content and provide feedback and support to our students during these two days.  It will be much like the virtual Wednesdays we have been doing throughout the fall.  Thus, we are providing education, we are "having school", and we will not need to have "make-up days" for these days.

However, I am a big fan of snow days and I want kids to be able to enjoy them and/or take care of other responsibilities (shoveling, helping neighbors, playing in the snow, etc.) as needed.  So I have asked teachers to be flexible with times, due dates for any work that needs done, communication, etc.

Since we are already remote, it seems like we can get the best of both worlds...educate our kids during bad weather AND allow them to enjoy their day(s) with a flexible schedule.  We will evaluate the effectiveness of this and plan accordingly for future weather events.

Also, I have been asked by Franklin County Emergency Services to help announce this:  Free COVID-19 testing by AMI coordinated by the Pennsylvania Department of Health for individuals three years old and up will take place at the Chambersburg Mall, 3055 Black Gap Road, Chmabersburg, PA 17202 beginning on Friday, December 18, 2020 running for five days through Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Symptomatic and asymptomatic persons can receive the test. The time for testing runs each day from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM. It will be walk-in or the drive through option. Entrance 1 of the Chambersburg Mall is the location for the testing. No appointment is necessary. Photo ID is required.

Thanks.  Be safe and well,
TSD Proud,
Mr. B.
